The archaeological place of the Roman spa is located in the center of Athens, inside the National Garden and Amalia’s Avenue.

The Spa was built at the end of the 3rd century C.E. Until the expansion of Andrianos it was located outside the walls of the Athens, but it was always always a very special place.
Information from ancient times and older excavations, we know that this romantic place, with a lot of waters of the nearby river, Ilisos and the rich rank, gathered the worship of great Godhood. Also it was a place of human dwelling from the prehistoric period, but also a place of necropolis from the geometric period.
With the expansion of the city, during the era of Emperor Andrianos, the completion of the temple of Olympic Zeus and the erection of the Gate that was built in his honor, the area was incorporated inside the borders of the city and new sanctuaries, public and private buildings and Spas.
